About the Internship:
DSK Green Ice Games is an India based studio focused on making games for the hardcore audience and on platforms like PC and consoles.
I did an internship at DSK GIG. There were two game on which the studio was working on. I worked on an episodic game and it has been shelved now.
What I learnt:
Time Management
I learnt the importance of time by working on this game as time is money in the world. Designing of elements has to be done carefully, so the art and the programming team does not waste time unnecessarily.
Professional Work Etiquette
In the industry every company has a different workflow. I got a taste of it in general as to how hierarchy works in a company.
Team Coordination
It was the first time I worked with around 23 members working on each game. I learnt the workflow and how information is shared with everyone and more importantly when it is.
What I did:
. Brainstorming sessions for story, mechanics and game features
. Design documents formalization and feature lists on Google Docs
. Level design on pen/paper and UE4
. Our Process: Research - Analysis - Conceptualization - Documentation - Presentation
. UI mockups
. Design iteration based on director and team's feedback
. Communicated with other departments in the team
